How to Pitch Your TV or Movie Idea

This class is designed for aspiring TV and movie producers and writers who want to master the art of pitching their ideas. The class will cover the fundamentals of crafting a compelling pitch, understanding the needs of different stakeholders, and developing the confidence to present ideas effectively. Participants will learn techniques to create and refine their pitches while receive feedback in a supportive environment.

Zayre Ferrer (descendent of the Ngäbe Indigenous people of Panama and Costa Rica) is an instructor in IAIA’s MFA Creative Writing Program. They have been working in the entertainment industry since 2005. They sold an unscripted series called “Animal House Style” to Animal Planet in 2008. Since then, they have pitched and developed dozens of TV shows and movies with various production companies and studios. They created and Executive Produced the Netflix Original Series “Tijuana” in 2019, wrote and produced on the HBOMAX series “Our Flag Means Death” from 2020-2024. They recently sold a feature film romantic comedy to Netflix.

Cost: $116. Current IAIA undergraduate and graduate students will pay $46. Current IAIA employees, alumni, and Seniors 65+ will pay $93. This 11-hour course is eligible for 1.1 Continuing Education Units (CEU's).
